abusing our soft side for dub edgar 9000 gave us these compelling tracks.>play me minus three (patience vs. epiphany mix)< û what starts like a nicely arranged minimal tune bubbles and billows after a short pause up to a big ride on the acid-dub-ghost-train. at the latest when the decently deployed and gated french horn pad sets in on the second half you are completely lost. not for quick peep û but beware: danger of addiction of endless playing is definitely given.meanwhile the title >hook & bait< of the b-side rather reads like the basic principle of fishing. it really sounds like the classic principle of ambient à well almost, since in this case this ambient track is drifting along itself, underlined with a straight driving and floating rhythm fed by an earthly bassline.petri heil! limited vinyl edition of the black dog s new album on soma quality recordings. each of the 500 copies is hand numbered and screen printed by the artists. 3 x 180g heavyweight vinyl. the black dog are without a doubt one of the hardest working acts in electronic music. no sooner have they released one of 2008s best albums in >radio scarecrow< and the massive 12 inch >detroit vs. sheffield< which featured two remixes from detroit minimal grandmaster robert hood, they now prepare for their next album release. >further vexations< is a real successor to >radio scarecrow<. the thinking behind the predecessor is still very evident with even more bite, but theres something about the new album that lends itself to the dark club atmosphere. perhaps the recent bout of constant gigging has had its effect on the act because this one is going to be tearing up floors around the world on its release. >further vexations< might have taken half the time to create but still manages to maintain the same degree of meticulous detail and attention as its predecessor, and is a complete package of tracks demanding to be listened to from start to finish. >further vexations< looks to rouse the sort of political attitudes that have been sorely missing from electronic music since raves backlash against the criminal justice act in the 90s.

shit hot release from the super consistent sex tags crew !! footnotes was the bergen, norway based label run by bjørn torske with only two releases, the late 1997 house classic and collectors item “haribo” by erot and the way too underrated dub-house 12” “farlig fiffus” by krisp. in 2002 the laqcuers for the third release were cut and all ready for the press, but for some obscure reason it never made it to the actual pressing. in the end lacquers were demolished and the mastertape got lost. several years later the mastertape showed up in a tower of old tapes and mastercuts. recovered by the sex tags mania crew, now seven years after it’s origibnal releasedate, doc l junior’s two classic and brilliant house and disco tracks are ready for a proper release. as a tribute, a longing for old days, sex tags mania will releases footnotes 3 in april 2009..

juan sanchez, the amsterdam based producer with spanish background, makes his wolfskuil debut with an impressive 2 track single. the freakshow ep is an examplary showcase of what juan is capable of. two peaktime tracks, but both with different angles. the title track delivers exactly what you expect from a song with that particular title. freaky, out of control basslines and over the top rhythmic exersises, with loads of subtle hints, clever programming and detailed edits form the freaked out basis for juans vocals. no 4 bars are the same, but the track is coherent from beginning untill the end. prepare to rip up floors with this one!23 positions shows a different side of juan. its carrying his trademark production style, but 23 positions takes a more melodic approach. beautifully arranged strings sweep in and out througout the track, accompanied by a non stop rolling groove. again there is a remarkable eye for detail, clever programming and spot on sound engineering, wich makes this tune explode from any pa.

10inch !!!! this is something special. 10 years after its very limited release (simply due to a low budget and limited sales expectations, not to try and make the record scarce), norm talleys the journey is picked up by a a few hip berlin djs, and a fire starts with the record being offered on ebay for over €100.00, because nobody can find a copy. even norm had to borrow a copy when he went to dj in berlin and the berlin party crowd had already asked him to confirm if he was bringing the record..no joke. so here is that tune, the journey, now re-mastered by stefan betke and cut by andreas@schnittstelle, and sounding very nice. on the flip is the unreleased in yo soul, chosen by third ear to complement the journey and complete a full on in your face piece of norm talley groove. and to round it off, its on a 10. cool and compact. just like norm, who is known in the dj circles of detroit as a secret weapon.. need your party fixing?... call norm talley. serge at clone kindly added a few words... nice re-issue of an obscure dj favorite produced by norm talley and previously released on the nouveau riche label from detroit. here you have two tracks that turn out to be great dj tracks when played out loud. the journey somehow got lost in obscurity. but luckily someone was clever enough to get it back out again, together with the previously unreleased in yo soul, and here they are... 10 inches of pleasure! pure detroit house music as we like it
